University of South Florida will play Texas Tech in the Birmingham Bowl on December 23rd. You know what that means? T-shirts! Bowl t-shirts are as American as peanuts and baseball. On average, one bowl shirt probably gets as much as 30-40 wears in the first 12 months. It is all about representing your team and their incredible season.
So when this year’s official Birmingham Bowl T-shirts went online a few days ago, the excitement was palpable. Until they actually read the t-shirt.
See if you can spot the mistake.
Birmingham Bowl organizers sent out a statement on Twitter that must have been written by lawyers. Instead of owning it “We messed up,” something that was probably hard to do since USF played in the Birmingham Bowl last year. Organizers said it this way “We have recently been made aware that there is a graphic misrepresentation on a T-shirt on the Birmingham Bowl Merch Site (some intern did it). Please rest assured that the T-shirt had not been produced (produced not printed). We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.” Must have used the lawyers from Delta Air Lines.
