What is 4 color process printing?

4 Color Process Printing is a technique that uses halftones of Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black (Key) (CMYK Printing) to create a full color print. Halftoning or “screening” results in less than full saturation because the 4 color printing process prints tiny dots that appear as one solid color to the human eye. Without halftoning, the color process would be reduced to solid blocks of color.

How is it used?

4 color process screen printing is mainly used to print photographic images, but can be used to print other types of designs as well.

Does it require a special set up?

Yes. Process designs require a different set up process than traditional spot color designs. As a result, there is a one time set up fee for 4 color process designs.

4 Color T-Shirt Printing

Now you’re ready to memorialize your 4 color graphic onto a t-shirt. The 4 color process t-shirt printing is often used when reproducing a photographic image onto a t-shirt. With a 4 color design, the choice of background, ie. The t-shirt, does matter. 4 color process t-shirt printing is traditionally printed on light colored shirts like white or natural so that the design stands out.

Save Money with CMYK Screen Printing
